Pat Tuzzolo
Board of Directors
Pat, sometimes known as Mother Nature, was born in the Capital District. Now she lives much of the year in Massachusetts, and spends four or five months of the summer in the Lake George area.
Her relationship with Camp Little Notch is deep and personal and goes back to her first experience at Girl Scout camp in 1956. From there, it just never stopped. She went to camp every summer, including three sessions at CLN, learning camp skills, natural history, and how to work with new friends at camp. She met, learned from, and worked with many extraordinary women who all helped her become comfortable and secure in the many skills that Girl Scouting and CLN allowed her to develop.
Pat raised her family in Massachusetts, where she continued her work with GS camps and private camps, holding various administrative positions. When her own daughters became old enough, they went to Little Notch—as campers and, later, as staff.
Professionally, all of her employment has been in the areas of public and private schools, informal science education and outdoor education (including summer camps), and school administration. These positions made her learn to listen to all sides of a situation, to evaluate possible paths, to acquire the things needed for people to do their jobs, and then to let them do those jobs. And then, afterwards, she, like all good administrators, had to evaluate what worked, what didn't, how to fix it, and how to honor the workers for doing a good job. It is not difficult to make the case that these skills are built on the foundations laid by great outdoor camp experiences, like those which can be made available by continuing the good work that Friends of Camp Little Notch has set out to do.
Pat can't imagine her life without Camp Little Notch and, if elected to the Board, she will work to the best of her ability to ensure that CLN has a long and productive future ahead.
