Kit Jelonek

Board of Directors

Kit is a social worker and Camp Little Notch alumnus who has been coming to camp since they were nine years old. Kit was among the first group to rehabilitate the property in 2011, and then went on to work as a counselor in 2012 and CIT director in 2018. Kit also worked for four summers at The Fresh Air Fund’s Camp ABC, eventually directing a staff of 16, and they developed a passion for learning from other camps and making outdoor spaces available to city kids. In the meantime, they earned their BA in Psychology from SUNY Geneseo and a Masters in Social Work from Hunter College. Kit went on to provide social work and therapy services to children, youth, and families for several non-profit organizations in New York City. They credit their time at Little Notch for propelling them towards a career in social work and cultivating the skills they needed to work in the field.

Currently, Kit works for themselves providing virtual psychotherapy for adolescents and adults, particularly those who experienced trauma and members of the LGBTQ community. Kit lives in the Albany area with their partner and three cats. In their free time, they enjoy oil painting, taking care of their plants, and the occasional video game.
