David Zdunczyk

Board of Directors

David is a resident of Malta, NY, and is semi-retired. He has a BA in History/German from Siena College, and his graduate studies were in Folklife/Museum Studies in the Cooperstown Graduate Program, SUNY Oneonta. He has a lifelong interest in Adirondacks, history & outdoor education. He has a career concentration in museums/historic preservation research and interpretation. He has held leadership positions in secondary and higher education, NYS 4-H Heritage and Horizons, The Sage Colleges, etc., later specializing in fundraising and development. He is currently a co-chair of the CLN Furnace Task Force. His interest stems from the unique character and history of CLN, the Adirondacks, and a lifelong appreciation of the difference women can make in their communities. He attended a day camp in Troy, YOMENCA, and learned how to fish the Boreas river as a youth. He is married and a father of three. All three of his children have had very satisfying and memorable experiences of overnight hiking/exploring/camping - at Colby, Chingachgook, Silver Bay, ADK Heart Lake and Johns Brook Lodge. However, for David, CLN is special owing to its independence and diverse mission. It's an absolutely unique natural setting with the oldest iron furnace in the Adirondacks and the Mt. Hope lost village. Those were what motivated him to aspire to join the board.
